Merging Appeals

I have an appeal with 58 solicited records attached to it, we need to make this inactive as it's no longer to be used.

Can do a global update to move the consituents assigned to this Appeal to the newly created Appeal that should be used?

-If so, does anyone have information on this as I was unable to find.

-If not, can I merge the inactive appeal (58 records) into the new one?

There is no merge appeal function in RE.

appeal can be seen in 2 places, constituent appeal and gift appeal.

For constituent appeal, you can use use constituent appeal import to get the import id of the constituent appeal and then import the change from old appeal id to new appeal id

For gift appeal, it depends if you integrate with FE and post, if your gift records are not posted, you can use gift import to change the appeal from old to new, but if gift is posted, then you are left with potentially using IOM to import Adjustment

@Tasha Mikoz You can use an import or a global change to update the Appeal as long as they are not posted.

If they are posted, you can unpost them, change the Appeal and then globally change them back to posted (don't push them through the GL tool as they are already posted and the GL distributions would not be different due to a change to the Appeal).

If your gifts are posted and you want to adjust them, gift adjustments can also be imported with Zeidman's Importacular.

just want to caution on the statement “GL distribution would not be different due to a change to the appeal”. This depends if appeal is posted into FE under transaction code 1-5 or not. Our org post appeal id to transaction code 1 table.

@Alex Wong Thank you for the addition. For RE/FE integrated systems that have that mapping enabled, that would certainly be worth watching. Generally, organizations only map Funds to the GL, but I'm glad you added that for those who have a mapping like yours.
