NXT Opportunities & Linked Gifts

Does anyone have experience linking gifts to opportunities in NXT when the campaign and fund are different? It seems that when the campaigns are different, the linked gift does not appear on the opportunity record and vice versa. We would prefer to keep the originally targeted campaign (and fund) on the opportunity and not change it to the campaign and fund that is ultimately funded (on the gift) for historical reference, but not if that means that the gift won't appear on the opportunity record in NXT.

I just tested this and am not experiencing the same thing. When you say you are linking a gift in NXT, do you mean the webview or database view? NXT includes both views, so that can be an important differentiator. I am not seeing a way to link gifts to opportunities in webview. I might have missed it since I do not do this on a daily basis, but have checked on the gift and on the opportunity.

If you are linking in database view, you should get a prompt indicating that there is a difference between the proposal the linked gift, but you do not need to update the proposal with the gift information. If you select No, the gift is still linked.

@Clarissa Rice Hampton We choose to update it, since the original campaign or fund was not the correct one anyway most of the time when the solicitor entered it. The big thing is to make sure it is linked.
