Gift Batches not retrieving through List gift batches endpoint

Hi,

I have created Batch Gift from RENXT Gift Management page as below, but when i open Database View and Open Batch, not able to see that gift batch.

Same way i have created Gift Batch in Database view but that also not visible in RENXT's Gift Management page.

Also, i am not able to retrieve that database view Gift Batches through List gift batches endpoint.

So what can be the issue? or am i missing something?

@Nikunj Prajapati Only approved webview batches are seen in database view. Database view batches cannot be accessed in webview.

Thanks for quick response, is there any way to get database view batch templates through API? or is there way to create Batch Gift templates in Webview which was available in Database View?

Database view batch templates are not available via the API, nor can you create batch templates in webview. Some of that functionality is expected around the end of the calendar year, but we don't yet know details.

I think it would help a lot if we understood the context. What are you trying to accomplish?

@Karen Diener Actually i wanted to get Batch Gift Templates through SKYAPI and then wanted to create new Gift Batch by using that template. Same as “Load from existing batch gift” option in database view. And then wanted to add Gifts into newly created Gift Batch for approval.

And also can you give me more details, what functionality we expect around the end of this calendar year?

what you trying to do is not possible with SKY API nor webview batch right now. As webview batch does not support templating.

@Nikunj Prajapati - According to the July Townhalls for RE NXT: Gift Management is an area that is actively being developed to more closely resemble what we're used to in DBV. If you haven't already, I recommend watching the on-demand recording. Lots of great information shared on where WV gift batch is headed.

In the same way that BB created Lists, but recently decided that it needs to migrate Query into webview (because Lists is anemic), BB has also decided that it needs to enable db Batch functionality into webview as well. Basically, in the past BB was trying to reimagine and build from scratch each of the webview functions, but recently they decided to take what already works in db view and move it over to webview functionality.

They released a roadmap for each of the modules in the Q2 2024 Product Update Briefings. Their goal was to release db Batch, Query, Export, and Reports before the end of 2025. In case you have difficulty accessing the webinar archive, here is a screenshot of just the roadmap.

As I said, I don't have any more details. I highly recommend watching the Product Update Briefing (PUB) in the fall, which is very likely to take place in early October after the Blackbaud Conference (BBCON).

As both Alex and I pointed out, templating is not currently available in webview which means it will not be available in the API right now. Once it is available, I don't think you'll need to leverage the API to accomplish your goal.
