Deleting a gift record

Hi!

How do I delete a gift record in Raiser's Edge NXT? We mistakenly created multiple gift records under one person for the same event.

Going forward, what is the best way to record gifts that came in as part of an event? From the event page - or the individual record? (Before anyone asks, YES, we have a campaign set up, and YES we are adding these gifts to the campaign and the event is part of the campaign.) I was doing it on the individual's page, but noticed that it wasn't cumulatively applying the total to the event page unless I did it directly through the event page.

Deleting a gift record can only be done in database view currently; you cannot delete a gift in web view. That said, there are various opinions on actually deleting a gift record. This is a policy you will have to work through with your org and is somewhat dependent on whether your information is uploaded into financial records for a general ledger. If so, you don't want to delete it because you need a trail. It's better to adjust the gift(s) to $0 so you can see what happened and reconcile. If that is an issue and you have the necessary permissions in the database you can just select the gift and delete.

As for going forward, adding gifts directly from the event will automatically link them. You can still link a gift to an event if you're entering it on the constituent's record in database view. You can also link a gift to an event through the batch process. I highly recommend reviewing Blackbaud's documentation on things and signing up for whatever courses you can in BlackbaudUniversity.
