Giving Tuesday

what does everone use for giving Tuesday? Do you use a platform that talks with Raisers Edge? Just emails and FB posts using a link to the donation page or?

@Donna Sedor welcome to Community! At my last org, we kept it simple. That org shifted their Giving Tuesday to their Foundation Day (Oct. 1), as it made more sense to help celebrate the founding of the Sisters of Notre Dame. We just used RE NXT. We created a specific donation form that was emailed and shared in our weekly parent newsletter. Additionally, we did utilize a texting platform when I was there. While the texting was not part of NXT we were able to share the link to the donation form so all the donations still came through NXT. I don't remember the name of the texting company but it was out of GA and not in Marketplace. Personally, I felt the texting was more trouble than it was worth but that was me.

@Donna Sedor Most of the orgs I've seen have just used social media pushes to direct people to their regular giving pages, or a specialized Giving Tuesday page. I think it's easier that way and you don't have to go through a lot of hassle. It doesn't disrupt your normal gift processing.

@Donna Sedor I have much the same experience as Dariel. Most of the organizations I work with simply send a few email messages or make social media posts about Giving Tuesday, but direct donations to their regular donation page or a Giving Tuesday branded page.

I don't think Giving Tuesday has the same level of hype that it did before when organizations did hour by hour reporting, and created a lot of urgency. And many others, as Miki said, focus more on their Founding Day or some other important milestone where they were marketing long before GT came into existence.

I would try to keep it simple!
