Important filters missing from the new basic list: Students with parents (flattened)

In reference to the new Core > Reporting > Manage lists > Manage basic and advanced lists > Add > Create basic list > Under “Student information”.

While this is an excellent start, it is missing crucial filters and output columns:

  • ALL relationships with parental access (including grandparents) are included, but there is no way to tell what sort of relationship they have to the student.
  • There is no way to tell who is marked “No Contact” or if “Parental Access” is false. Sometimes it is important to only contact parents who are marked “Responsible Signer”.

Relationship type and flags also need to be part of the output for confirmation purposes further down the line. (While I, as the person who pulled the list, know what the conditions are, the person using a subset of the list might want to confirm for themselves before using the data.)

If relationship flags are used as output filters, they should not have to be applied separately for each parent in the output (Parent 1, Parent 2, &etc.)

It would also be useful to include the relationship comment, as it can be relevant depending on why the list was pulled.

Even better than voting, please comment on the idea or this discussion. We already plan to expand filters, but I'm absolutely listening for which filters and columns are needed. Thanks for the specific feedback!

@Jessi Walters I completely agree with Petra that the the specific relationship type is critical for filtering/output- we store grandparents in BEM but don't necessarily want them to be on a parent contact list. Or it would be great to be able to isolate grandparents/non-responsible signers from the primary parent relationships…

The new Advanced List templates are great and I look forward to expanded filtering and functionality!
