Best Practice? Giving Tuesday - 3 items to choose from

So, it's Giving Tuesday, and it's the first time I'm coming around to it, and we recently transitioned to NXT, so stuff done last year can be done differently.

What we're doing is a ‘Christmas Wish List’ where a department has asked to raise funds for specifically 3 different things.

In the past they select which of the 3 things they are donating towards - and I'm not sure how we would have been tracking that all along leading up to it (it's a month long appeal with the bulk of the work around GT) to say how much was raised for each (I think we may have said 'if we raise X it funds A, if we go over by Y it funds B, etc…).

I'd like to see how each item is doing within that donation.

Now, I'm going to assume that our finance won't want to make separate ‘funds’ for the 3 items for this one time thing. They're all in one dept so that's its own fund..

Should we make 3 donation forms - so they pick which, and then go to the form that responds? Or can I have one form, with 3 options (like a custom question).

With 3 forms, it's more clicking, but we can get results on how each form is doing pretty easily (right?… is there the classic ‘thermometer’?).

With one form, do we have to do a little Spreadsheet-fu to try to separate out which has raised what?

Any suggestions you have is super appreciated (and thanks for reading all the way down my morning rambling pre-espresso post)

Hi, I don't know what your org setup for Fund is, but the better option is to use Fund.

In the NXT donation page, you can allow multiple fund to designate donation. You can change the wording on the fund designation so it doesn't have to be the same naming convention that your org may use for Fund Description.

Then for reporting, with the “new” (honestly I don't know if it is new yet, I have access to it, but not sure if it is publicly available yet or still in preview) ability to search for Fund to get to a Fund record (without needing to go into a gift record first, THEN click on the fund to get to the fund record. You will get a LOT of analytic panels to see how the fundraising is going on each of the 3 funds.

You can also setup goal on the fund record, and there is a way to setup therometer too

So it's for “paediatric” and we have a fund for paediatric equipment, I get the best might be to set up a fund for each of the 3 … and then mark inactive after the appeal is over. But (and again, this might just be because I don't do the back end set up myself, I just create the appeals and generate a list) could there be a way to choose the Fund “Paediatric Equipment” and then have a sub option listed?

if a fund already exists for Paediatric, and you want to use this ONE fund, you can.

I wouldn't suggest using custom field, as this will require you to setup separate report for each of the 3 values of custom field, and RE NXT report is NOT friendly with custom field.

So instead, I recommend setup 3 appeals, and 3 donation form each with the 3 different appeals. going into the same fund.

IN the Fund page, you can see how much came in from each appeal.
