Grading Review Start Date changes with New Grading

It used to be that you could set a grading start date that did not have any impact on the review start date. Typically, the review start date would be set maybe a few days after the grading start date or even a few weeks after the grading start date was set to teachers. Which makes sense.

With the new grading, the “review start date” must be set on the same day as the “grading start date” in order for teachers to see the “Ready for Review” option. This isn't the normal and I assume will cause a lot of confusing when the review start date is met, and there are zero grades that have been flagged as “ready for review”, simply because the teacher did not have the option at the time they calculated their grades.

Multiple schools have reported this as a bug, and the response from support is as follows:

"I was able to confirm with my team the expectation for the 'Ready to Review" feature. Within our new grading page, this would require the review start date and review end date to be present for the "Ready to Review" to populate. We also confirmed if these fields are not present the "Ready to Review" boxes will not populate.

It's true that the fields need to be populated in order for the “Ready for Review” check box to be present. But the date has never had an impact until now. Have any other schools had issues with this new functionality? If it's truly intentional, what is the reasoning?
