Planned Giving Module - Data Entry/Post Status - RE Integrated with FE

Hi all,

I'm looking to hear from others who have this module and are integrated with financial edge, how do you handle the post status on the gift? Do you leave the GL post status as “not posted," or do you change it to “do not post."

My organization is working on a proposal to our COO to purchase the Planned Gift Module. Our Raiser's Edge is integrated with our Financial Edge, so our Business department naturally is concerned about what will happen when they post if planned gifts have been entered. I noticed the following message in the Planned Giving Tracking Guide from BB.

Warning: The Raiser’s Edge does not currently support posting planned gift records to The Financial Edge or any other accounting software.

I don't want anything to flow over to FE that might cause an upset with accounts receivable, they've been using RE since the DOS days and FE more recently and are highly sensitive to any changes.

    @Rachel Kauer I would either mark it as “Do Not Post” or manually change it to “Posted” (that way the gift cannot be changed easily).

  • @Rachel Kauer When using the Gift Type = Planned Gift, this is a Planned Gift intention, with no final cash value. More than likely your organization will have to work with your audit committee to establish how these types of gifts will be recorded within the financial system. Mark the Planned Gift as do not post.
