Blocking a Parent from Communication

We have a divorced family and there is a restraining order on one of the parents that prevents them from being on campus, etc., but they still have parental access to Blackbaud. The other parent would prefer that they not receive the communication that is sent regarding the child. Is there a way to block a parent from receiving official notes?

You will have to test this to see if it will work. In Core, pull up the record you are working with. Click Tasks and then scroll down until you see Official Notes. You can turn it off there:

    OF Notes

I would impersonate the user at that point to see if it worked.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks.

I believe tasks are set at the role membership level, so if Parents have access to Official Notes, it's an “all or no one” scenario. I do not believe a task can be disabled on an individual basis.

  • @Boyd Reilly It won't let me edit it for a parent. That would have been a good solution.

I just remove the email address from the email address field.

  • @Ellen Gershman I can't do that because the parent has a legal right to log in and see the child's grades.

  • @Candi Roberts having the email listed under Digital on Contact Card doesn't mess with their logins. Once login is set, parents can change their emails and not have to change their logins. We have many parents that don't want emails from us, but have their logins are set up with their email address. We remove email from contact card and leave login information alone - works flawlessly ?

  • @Kathy Hannon that's good to know! Thank you!
