Is role required to access records? If so what role?

I just don't do this often enough to get it! I have a new user starting next week that I need to assign Raiser's Edge NXT feature security role so that user can add/edit constituent DOB and add constituent actions.

I have user and user group created in db view. I can select her as a user on the security role page. But, what role do I need/need to create so that she will be able to access constituent records. She is not a fundraiser, does not need analysis, communications for the other roles. Just needs to have access to record to put in DOB and add constituent actions.

I don't see what I'm looking for in creating a new role in any of the role types.

It seems like a role is required or is it not?

@Alex Wong I have user and user group created in db view. That's what KB article is about.

What I'm having issues with is a “role” in web view with constituent data.

@JoAnn Strommen Roles simply link back to the buckets at the top (or on the side in a month or two). So, if a user were to need access to the Analysis set of functions, they would need analysis roles. What the roles are called doesn't matter as long as the functionality is assigned. These are primarily for NXT only functions.

I don't think you need a role to just view and edit records though. These functions fall back to the DB view security settings. They will probably only have one set of functions at the top.
