Direct mail reply cards

When we send out a mailing with a reply card, we want to begin recording it on the gift record, whether or not the gift came in with a reply card. How are you recording these things? Attribute? Reference?

your mailing should have an appeal (mailing has expense having appeal makes easy tracking of expense) if you don't already.

Then you can use “constituent assigned apepal” to record who received and if you want even more trackability, record the response accordingly in an consttiuent appeal record.

Hi Heidi - we use the “packages” field on the gift to record this information. We segment our data so we know which type of donor is responding and which response form they received, and for those that are acquisition they are recorded as Unpackaged - Unknown (they didn't recieve an appeal and they are new to us) or Unpackaged - Known (they didn't receive and appeal but they are already a donor).
