NXT for emails and newsletters

Hi all, we are currently using NetCommunity for emails and sending newsletters and wanted to know what others are using. We do not have the budget for another add on so thinking NXT is our best option? Thoughts? Thanks much

    @James Rychner Hi James - NXT email is a good option, but it really depends on what you need from your emails and what features you want to get from it. In general, The ‘pros’ to NXT email is that the design part is very easy - drag and drop and easy to work with. When you send it to a list, it does a good job of showing you reporting on how it performed. The ‘cons’ will depend on what you need. The common issues I hear are the limits to the mail merge fields (there are lots, but just not the ones we wanted), and the challenges on setting up customized opt-outs. If you are doing straight-forward emails to a list, it could very well meet your needs - and it is nice to be able to keep everything together in one system.

    @James Rychner
    We don't use RE NXT Marketing Email module due to its limited option in design customization (no way to do straight HTML CSS for the “unique” look our marketing team wants).

    Another issue is the inability to send email to an external list of email addresses, everything must be in RE taking up constituent record space/quota.

    Finally, also related to email list, you can only send to the “primary” email on the account. So if you are an org that send email to all emailable email address of a constituent, you cannot do that in RE NXT marketing email. If your org uses non-constituent spouse, and record the spouse email on the main constituent record, you won't be able to email both spouses.

  • @James Rychner we have been using RE NXT for most of our emails lately, and I've found the email builder to be fine. The big problem I have with this is I cannot figure out how to have a public subscription form - the only way I can add new people is manually or if they register for an event or make a donation. I'm on a search to figure out if its possible, but otherwise I'm planning to use MailChimp again and figure out how to deal with merging the different lists.
