NXT Insight Edit Properties to Change Date Range

Hello, Everyone. I created a dashboard with the following dashboard/page filters: Date Range, Campaign Description. I have an two pairs of insights (Gift Amount Committed and Donors). I would love to have one pair to reflect overall giving, while the other pair would reflect last year's figures. For some reason, I can't find a way to specify the date range from the insight properties. I see a checkbox for Date range under Page filters (from the insight properties), but the drop down box doesn't have an option to change/add a date range. Am I missing something here?

Thank you.

Following as I'd also love to know if this is possible!

  • @Suzie Capps Unfortunately I found out you can't (might be possible if you have Insight Designer, but not sure). You can still compare two dates, but one of the dates should be all time. You can't do a year over year (specifying two dates). If you specify one period in your page filter (ie. last fiscal year), and then uncheck the Date in the Insight properties, the insight will reflect all time.

You can't do this directly in RE NXT reporting / insight designer.

RE database view canned reported is coming to RE NXT, so some report there will be able to do this, but the functionality may not be “dashboard” like.

If you want dashboard like, you will need to build it using Power BI and then integrated it into RE NXT using SKY Add-in. But does have a learning curve. You may want to attend a Power BI User Group and see if it is something you want to dive into.

  • @Alex Wong Thank you, Alex. I am finding out that Dashbaord has very significant limitations. I can work around some of the insights through their respective edit properties. But just like the date restriction, there are things that are out of my hand. Hopefully they continue to improve that as the higher ups prefer the Dashboard for a bird's eye view of things. The thing that I really don't like about the Dashboard is the drill down. If you click on the values (links), they open up as lists, but don't represent the insight values. Very troublesome. Should have not made those link if the value are misrepresented that way (even if you can filter, modify the list altogether).

Thanks for your input regarding powerBI.
