Retention Fundraising Dashboard ( Soft Credit Issue)

We just converted to RE. We are seeing that the retention dashboard does not account for soft credits. For example, if a couple from the same household has one spouse who gives one year, but the following year it comes from the other spouse, their gift does not seem to be counted as a retained gift.

I learned that soft credit gifts are not accounted for in retention numbers. I can understand that in some capacity.

Have others seen this, and if so, have you figured out a workaround to ensure your retention dashboards are accurate? Am I looking at this incorrectly?

soft credit, spouse and householding is always difficult and it also depends on your org policy on soft credit and spouse recording practice.

The only real way to solve this is to consider what is your org's policy and build custom report using tool such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.

@Shawn Cote I don't know if that would be helpful at this stage. @Alex Wong is right that your general policies on householding and spouse recording need to be put in place first.

For instance, my org only creates records for the main constituent (HOH) and will only create a constituent record for the spouse if there is a difference in constituency or a relationship change with the organization. So, we record all gifts, actions, and notes under the main constituent as well. General practices for your org are needed for you to help determine what your soft credit policies should be, so then you can determine how to report on those things appropriately.
