People Finder Frustration

I find the People Finder drop down very frustrating as when searching for a name if you move the cursor even slightly the people finder disappears. It would be very helpful if this was not the case. I hope this is something you can consider in the future, Thank you. Small things make huge differences.

@Gabrielle Schneider Please consider also cross-posting this to the Ideas section of the user community. There, peers can review the ideas, vote for their favorites, and add comments. Product managers review the ideas posted there and update them as they plan future roadmaps for enhancements, etc. You can copy the Idea # or URL and paste it in this discussion thread to draw additional attention to the idea too.

@Gabrielle Schneider this is a pretty consistent annoyance here too as well as recent behavior of not pulling up anything at all when entering a name but it is in the system. I would add a vote to any idea posted on this.

@Gabrielle Schneider Also, if the search could act like a "standard" search field and select the first option when you type "return", that'd be fabulous. Having to click after typing (and being careful not to slide off the pop-up search window) is slow.

I solved this and a bunch of other annoyances years ago with a user script. In fact, not being able to hit Enter in People Finder was the original reason I made the script. ?

Some other things I did with the script for People Finder specifically:

• Hit enter when searching with People Finder to open the first result
• Use number keys 1-9 to select the nth search result
• Added in v1.6.6 - Click the People Finder button in the navigation bar to put the cursor in the search box, ready to type. Menu will no longer hide as long as the cursor is in the search box. Hit Escape or click the page to cancel and hide the menu.

Take a look. It's open source. Might save your sanity (like it did mine) while waiting for Blackbaud to implement these things on their end.
