MFA Log-in requiring authenticator app?

UPDATE: QR code authentication has returned but now only for one user who does NOT have a smart phone. Is there any way to bypass this without downloading an app? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Original post: We use Blackbaud Altru as our museum Gift Shop POS and my (primarily octogenarian) volunteers have done a great job acclimating to MFA using their smartphones.

Today instead of receiving the usual usual six digit text to log in, my volunteer was presented a QR code to scan with an authenticator app we have never used. As we have never used an authentication app, she was unable to log in herself and forced to use my log-in (that did NOT prompt the QR code scan).

None of my colleagues have encountered the QR code to log in yet and are concerned this will cause an issue as we are not allowed to install apps or programs of any sort on these county-owned computers.

Is there any way to disable the QR code MFA?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

This article describes how to change the MFA type:

For what it is worth, the authenticator app is installed on the user's smartphone, not on the museum's computer. I use the one developed by Microsoft and it can be used for multiple logins (I use it for Altru, Microsoft, Salesforce, etc).
