Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT® Donation Form Now Offers Receipting! (Global Feature)

Have you been waiting for receipting to make the move from Blackbaud Online Express™ donation forms to the donation forms in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT®? Then this message is for you.We are excited to announce that you can now set up your donation form to send receipts to donors. Receipts verify to donors that their payment is complete, representing an official tax document, and assign a receipt number, date and status emailed to the donor.



This new capability expands on the existing Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT receipt functionality so you can manage and use your current receipt templates and series. All receipt management will also work the same for offline and online gifts, so administrative tasks like canceling or issuing duplicates will work the same for all receipts.



In order to enable this feature, from Tools, Donation Forms, choose to add a new or edit an existing donation form. Under Donation Form Designer you can choose to enable this function for one-time gifts, recurring gifts, or both and choose which receipt template and receipt series to use.



When a donor donates on a form enabled for receipts, they will receive the confirmation email as usual. The gift will arrive in gift batch, where you can review and make any necessary changes before approving. Once approved, the receipt will then be sent to the donor.







You may notice that this process differs from the immediate PDF attachment that Online Express, Blackbaud Luminate Online®, TeamRaiser or Blackbaud NetCommunity™ send. We chose to take advantage of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT's existing receipting functionality that allows you to have the same workflow and receipt templates for both online and offline donations. The donation needs to be approved in gift batch to ensure that the receipt information is complete and accurate. This means, you will have less need to resend a receipt for errors caused by donor entry, since the receipt is sent after the gift is fully in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT (including any changes you made during approval).



Throughout the discovery process, donors embraced receiving their receipt via email within a few days. If you use this feature, we recommend you add a sentence to your confirmation email noting that the receipt will be sent separately.

Thank you for the functionality. The form itself is great. However, there are a couple of problems with it: 1. As it is not generated until the batch is processed there could be a considerable delay. Donors are used to getting a receipt sent through within a few minutes of donating (not just through OLX but for all other donations made via other providers). 2. The receipt itself is very ugly - there doesn't seem to be any way of improving the look of it. For the moment we won't be moving from OLX.
