Here is the latest change in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT® for August 15th, 2023.

Send receipts from donation forms

As part of ongoing improvements to the receipting process, you can now set up your donation forms to send receipts to donors. After you approve donation form batches from Gift management, Raiser's Edge NXT generates the receipts and emails them to donors.

Receipts for gifts that come in through donation forms include the same receipting functionality as gifts entered in the web view. For example, you can track receipt history, cancel and duplicate receipts, and set up receipt series. For an overview of all the gift receipting capabilities, see Gift Receipting.

To send receipts from donation forms, navigate to Tools, Donation form designer, and add or edit a donation form. Under Confirmations, choose to send receipts for one-time gifts, recurring gifts, or both. Then select an email receipt template for each gift type. Next, select a receipt series to apply a numbering system and prefix to the receipts. For more information, see Donation Forms.

how does this functionality interact with the “Do Not Contact”, “Requests No Email”, and email related consents & solicit codes on a constituent's record?

Hi Annie - Great question. Since receipts aren't considered marketing messages, they don't interact with the “Do Not Contact" and "Requests No Email" fields or email-related consent requests and solicit codes.

Hi there. Our current OLX confirmation email includes the line “You will find your charitable tax receipt at the end of this email, by clicking on eReceipt”. It looks like this isn't an available merge field with the new donation form. Any suggestions for how we can communicate to donors how to access their receipt? Thanks.

Hi Andrea - Raiser's Edge NXT doesn't send a donation form receipt with the confirmation email message a donor receives after they give online. Instead, it sends them their receipt after you approve the gift batch. We recommend that you include a sentence in the confirmation email noting that they'll receive their receipt separately.

If you choose the recurring gifts option, does the email go out only when the donor first makes the recurring gift or every time a recurring gift payment is approved?

Hi Susan - Great question! If you enable donation form receipts for recurring gifts, the donation form only sends email receipts for the first payments. You'll need to manually generate receipts from the web view for future installment payments.

Could you clarify the final step of the process? I think that as soon as the batch is approved, the emails are generated, but could you confirm?

Hi Karen - That's correct. After you approve the batch, RENXT generates the email receipts.
