Single Sign On (SSO) SAML 2.0 configuration Setup

I am in the process of setting up SSO in my organization. We are hitting a roadblock during the testing part of the configuration.

We are unable to figure out what is causing the NameID issue below:

"Authentication failed because the response from your identity provider (IdP) doesn't include the attribute mapped to NameID in your single sign-on configuration. Your IdP uses this attribute to identify users so it must be included in the response. On the SSO configuration screen, make sure your NameID mapping is correct. If it is, follow up with your IdP.".

Has anyone successfully setup SSO for their organization using SAML2.0? Any advice would be great.
