Uncheck Primary Phone button in NXT?

Hi… I'm forcing myself to use NXT for basic data entry and still can't do very, very simple things. I want to change an email address type to "Unsubscribed" and I want to uncheck the Primary (star) button. I can uncheck and check boxes at will in database view.

However, in NXT if someone only has ONE email address it looks like you cannot UNCHECK the primary button. So now I have a record with the PRIMARY email address being an UNSUBSCRIBED email.

And why are there no "Comment" fields on phone numbers/email addresses anymore?

Am I missing something simple?

Which email vendor are you using? If using NXT email, it automatically tags/suppresses the email so it's not pulled in even if marked primary. The interface of NXT does want to have one of the email, phone, or address marked primary. You'll need to check the "do not contact" circle with a line through it since it wants there to be a primary.

@Jennifer Briganti is right. NXT mandates a primary type if one entry exists, even if it is marked inactive\DNC.

I'm with you on the lack of comments @Tom Klimchak. Those fields were super useful from time to time. I think there is an idea to have them moved over to NXT. I wouldn't expect to see them though.

requiring that one email or one phone must be marked as primary is an uncalled for feature. I can understand their intent, but it is not good for normal work flow.

I would report this issue as a problem that needs correction in Idea Bank

Keep using RE Database View. RE NXT is nothing but a headache and does very little. While there are a few good things in RE NXT (and I mean FEW), RE Database is the way to go. Everything in Database SHOULD BE in RE NXT and then make improvements going forward, not his haphazard way Blackbaud is doing it by leaving so many things not in RE NXT. This has to be one of the worse things Blackbaud has done.

Yes! it is very difficult particularly when you have someone who has multiple phones and you don't actually know which one is their preferred.

Within Database view, it is not required to mark a phone as the primary. This ability should be ported over to NXT for full cross-compatibility. (For example, my organization only marks emails as primary, but not phone numbers as someone may have multiple numbers they use)

Add the ability to leave comments (manual or automatic “signature”) on phone numbers, emails, and other fields in Raiser's Edge NXT.

I agree that there should be an option NOT to mark a phone/email as primary if it is the only one. Comments and date last changed are also important fields that should be brought to web view.
