Reporting on Pledge Funding Allocated to Current Fiscal Year via Insights Designer

We have a directive to report on pledge funding allocated to the current fiscal year only. Even if the funding has not yet been received but is scheduled to come in during this fiscal year.

Our organization primarily uses Campaigns to segment funding by Department and Fiscal Year. We would like to create Insights Designer dashboards that report:

• All outright gifts
• All pledge commitments but only the portion of those commitments with payments scheduled for the current fiscal year

Here’s our challenge:

• Many pledges and pledge schedules are created by donors themselves through Blackbaud NXT donation forms.
• Recommendations we’ve seen suggest creating separate pledges for each fiscal year. However, to my knowledge we cannot do this in Web View batch processing of NXT donation form pledges. In addition, when we have tried to edit existing NXT donation form pledge records, the subsequent, automated payments fail to recognize the original pledge.

Questions:

1. Is there any way to configure the RE system so that pledges can be effectively and reliably split by Campaign or Fiscal Year?
2. Is it possible to split pledges in RE NXT web view batches and still ensure payments post correctly to the appropriate pledges?
3. Can we re-code existing NXT pledges (with automated payments scheduled) so they are split by Campaign without breaking the link to incoming payments?
4. When we tried adjusting existing NXT pledges, payments that came in were no longer recognized as linked to the original pledge in NXT or Database View. Why does this happen, and how can we avoid it?

Additional Considerations:

• We need to ensure that pledges remain fully write-off capable if a donor changes their credit card—even if we’ve modified the pledge in Database View (e.g., adding a Campaign for FY2026 Original NXT Pledges – Do Not Report).
• Ultimately, what is the best practice for:
  • Reporting on outright gifts and pledge commitment funding allocated to the fiscal year via Campaign in Insights Designer
  • Managing NXT pledges so they align with fiscal year reporting requirements without breaking payment schedules or donor self-service functionality
