Converting Legacy Assignments to New Assignments

I'm really excited to use the new Quick Assignments, but my school has used BlackBaud for years, and most of my assignments already exist as legacy assignments that I import from prior years. I rarely create new assignments from scratch anymore. Is it possible to import an old assignment into the new assignment experience, or do I have to rebuild everything from scratch? I don't see an Import function among the new features. More importantly, does that mean that later this year when legacy assignment features are deprecated, all the work I've put into my legacy assignments (descriptions, file attachments, etc.) will be obliterated permanently?

If so, consider this a feature request: please create an Import function allowing us to convert legacy assignments to new assignments. This will prevent many teachers from having to redo hours of work from years ago. Thanks!

    Hi Chris -

Thanks for the suggestion, and I can confirm that we have plans to convert all legacy assignment to the new version of assignments when the legacy version is sunset this summer. You will not have to rebuild anything, all of the hard work you already put into those assignments will be preserved and available!

  • Excellent! Glad to hear it. Follow-up question: is it no longer possible to have students submit text directly in a submission box? I didn't see a "0" option under "Files to submit," which is how it used to work.
