Exploring Migration from Tuition Management to Billing Management – Seeking Peer Feedback

Hi Everyone,

Our school has been a Blackbaud Education Management customer for 3 years, and we have been using Tuition Management (TM) for our billing during that time. We are currently investigating the possibility of migrating to Billing Management (BM) for the upcoming cycle and would love to hear from schools that have already made this jump.

We understand that by moving to BM, we lose the "Full Service" aspect of TM (the parent call center, follow-up services, and the lockbox). However, we are curious about the actual feature set differences for the business office.

Specifically:

  • Workflow Efficiency: For those who migrated, did you find the "in-house" management in BM to be more or less time-consuming than managing the TM sync?
  • QuickBooks Integration: We are still using QuickBooks for our Financials. If you are a QB school using Billing Management, how have you found the process of exporting GL data? Is it a clean transition?
  • Feature Gaps: Are there specific features in TM (like specific reporting or flexible payment plan logic) that you missed once you moved to BM?
  • The "Parent Service" Trade-off: How has your parent community reacted to the shift? Was the transition to the native Billing portal smooth for them?

If any schools have made this specific migration, would you be open to a brief 10-15 minute conversation to share your experience? We’d love to hear the "real world" pros and cons before we pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance for any insights!
