Admissions Checklists - what does assigning steps to staff actually do?
There is an option (right after Admissions Calendar Reminder) to assign an Admissions Checklist step to an Admissions Staff member. I haven't seen anywhere that this actually has an affect - assigned staff do not see this indicated anywhere, nor is there a notification telling them (this is different than the "candidate assigned" notification).
Has anyone found a use for this?

Hey @Daniel Wallach checking on on this. I did reach out to my team and they recommended opening a Blackbaud support case to get the official use. If you want to return here with their answer, that would be great. Thanks!

Response from support:
At this time, the “Assign to Admissions Staff” option within checklist step settings is mainly used for internal reference and configuration purposes. While it allows schools to associate a staff member with a checklist step, it does not currently trigger notifications or display a task or alert for that staff member within their interface. I understand this can feel like a gap, particularly since other areas of the system (such as candidate assignment) do provide notifications.
I asked to clarify practical use, i.e. what does "internal reference and configuration purposes" actually entail. Response:
The internal reference and configuration purposes include the assigned staff member is stored with the checklist step as a reference on the candidate’s record. This allows your team to see, within the checklist itself, who the step was intended to be associated with when reviewing that candidate.
In some scenarios, this field may be available when building lists or reports, which can help identify ownership of checklist steps. However, the availability of this field can vary depending on the reporting tools and filters being used.
Assuming support gave me all there is to know here, I'm concluding that the main (only?) use for this is easily showing ownership of steps.
