Insight Designer - Not including Soft Credits

Hi Everyone!

I am currently putting together an insight to look at donors who give to a specific fund. We have a good amount of donors who give through DAFs that I am not seeing reflected in this figure or in the list created from the insight. Is there a way to include them and get a more accurate representation of how many donors we have?

Thanks!

Unless someone knows something I do not, there is no way to include soft credits with Insight Designer (a not very good tool to begin with), which tends to be an issue with some other things in RE NXT. I would stick with doing this in the workhorse RE Database View.

Insight Designer is limited b/c it hasn't been updated in a long time (years). Since Insight Designer, BB has worked on Query on webview, which can be option-ed to show soft credit receipient. You can also use standard reports and it has option to do soft credit recipient too.

@Joe Moretti & @Alex Wong, good to know! So to endure that I am looking at the correct population, it seems like running a query and breaking it down that way seems to be the best option?

Are there any dashboard options that can do this? I'm really looking for quick reporting that I can reference on the fly!

Alex Bloomer: I had the same thing, the query had 178 donors and insight had 172. The difference was we had 5 gifts that had a zero amount, which insight did not include those. As soon as I changed the query to gift greater than 0, they both equaled 172.

It's called recognition credit. Depending on how and who gets soft-credited for DAF gifts in your instance of RENXT, it might work. But if you receive many checks where the entity provides a single check (American Online Giving Foundation, Inc.) for more than one donor, the amount credited by Insight Designer will be the full amount of the check for each donor listed on the payment. The only thing you can reliably deliver using Insight Designer is ballpark totals. And if you're looking for a quick reference, then Insight Designer might work, but it should not be considered gospel.

  • The lack of soft-credit inclusion is an issue throughout NXT and renders many tools useless.
