Pledge Status vs. Aging Report

Hello. We are using the split gift feature for multi-fund campaign pledges. Our controller is having trouble with the pledge status report balance not matching the cash flow report for those donors with split gifts. Has anyone else experienced this issue/have a workaround or solutions? Thank you.

I haven't been the one to pull those type of reports recently but I know in the past there were issues with balances for split gift funds. RE is programmed to split any payments on the same percentages as fund designations are in the multi-fund pledge. When we had a donor make a gift specifically for one of the funds, we could apply it to that fund. As I recall, there were issues when looking at projections by fund as RE split the gift to all funds on the pledge.

Don't know of a workaround as I haven't had to work with it for some time.

exactly what JoAnn said, which is why we never have split pledge.

  • Rather than saying No Splits at all, as many do, or No Split Pledges, my approach is that if a donor is going to pay only one or some of the splits and not all splits proportionally with each payment, then a pledge shouldn't be split, multiple pledges should be entered. So for example, for a 4-year pledge when annual campaigns are used and each year's payment is for just that year's campaign, 4 pledges. When it's a capital campaign and every payment is to be split evenly between the Building Fund and the Endowment Fund, a split pledge is okay.

  • Yes, what Alex and Joanne said … I've always opted to not split pledges mainly for reporting purposes and keeps clean for write offs, etc.
