No constituent "profession" selection in Raiser's Edge NXT?

We have always tracked alumnae by professional categories, such as engineering and medicine, in our database. However, NXT does not provide a way to assign a profession category within organization relationships, and that functionality is important to our work. Oddly enough, we can still query on it from the professions added in database view.

When will this be addressed?

Not only is there no profession category, there is no industry category as well. In fact, This is the problem with RE NXT, many things in Database View have not carried over to RE NXT.. You are also correct that many orgs track the profession category and some track the industry.

  • We use a similar type of labeling for individuals & businesses, called Structure Codes in Database, yet these haven't been available to us in RE NXT either. I too, do not understand why certain features are carried over while others are not. It is very frustrating for us to not have all of the same capabilities when trying to switch to NXT.

Expanded employment info is coming to webview. These fields are important to our school, too. Here's a screen shot from the May PUB on this topic.

From my notes: "These (i.e., items on this slide) are coming once constituent re-design is done. Then they will work on constituent fields. Normally focused on workflows, but if you are missing data fields that you use in workflows, that’s a problem BB wants to fix."

Given that you can now finally view the full list of Education attributes/custom fields for each school, AND make edits to it in webview, I'm hopeful that the extra fields we have in DBV for Employment relationships will appear in webview one of these days, too.
