Connect RE

I have a few questions on Connect RE that I need help with. Do you all go through each record before updating? Also, it seems that students who applied and accepted then withdrew are being marked as alumni and students who took summer school are showing up as a duplicate record and I'm having to go through each one and merge records. Is there a better way to do this? If they withdrew, why do they not show up under the people leaving withdrawn? and why don't I have any of the 2025 graduates listed under students graduated? Appreciate any feedback!

  • Hi @Jolynn Uyehara I see it has been a few days with no responses from the community. I'm going to escalate this to my team to see if I can find someone to provide some insight to Connect RE. Thanks!

Here is the response I get from our dev team:

Q1: Do you go through each record before updating?

Yes — Connect RE has a "Review Changes" screen that categorizes all pending changes (new students, new family, faculty/alumni, updates, students withdrawn, students graduated) before anything is committed to RE. However, record updates are applied in batch; only additions are reviewed individually.

Q2: Students who withdrew are being marked as alumni

A student gets "Graduated" if they have the Alumni base role in the SIS, and "Withdrew" if they have PastStudent instead. If withdrawn students are showing as alumni, their school SIS (Blackbaud Education Management/onCampus) is assigning them the Alumni role rather than PastStudent. The fix is on the SIS side — those records need the correct role.

Q3: Summer school students creating duplicate records

The matching engine tries to link SIS records to RE records by name/demographics. Summer-only students often have a separate SIS enrollment that doesn't match an existing linked RE record, so they appear as new. The Match Records step will flag these as "Duplicates found" — the user needs to manually link/merge them there.
