Hello,
I have added our new freshmen in our system who will graduate in 2030 and have noticed in NXT that it will display their name as Mr. John A. Smith 1930. Has anyone else ran into this? Is there a way to fix this? Thanks!
Are you entering the year on their education relationship record? Class of? Bio 2 tab? Or somewhere else? If class of is where you are entering it, check Configuration > Business Rules > Alumni options. Is the class format set there for YYYY? I would think it is if it's displaying 1930. Just trying to think of some where in the back end that could be overriding what you are entering.
I've encountered the 1900 vs 2000 for a couple of other date fields.
There is already a Blackbaud solution for this at Knowledge Base Article 118242.
Entering two-digit dates for the year 2030 reverts to 1930 in the Raiser's Edge
So, I just tested it on my record. Is there any chance you are importing this info without the full year? (30 vs 2030) because when I typed in 2030, it looks like it is appearing correctly for me!
I manually entered in the data. Under the Bio2 tab, list them as an active student and the class year as 2030.
I think I would need to see a screen shot to really understand what is happening.
I do not think the 1930 is coming from anything in the Bio 2 tab, take a look at the relationships → education/schools tab and see what the graduation year is. That may be where the issue is.
Yes, I also enter it on the Education tab as 30. I re-entered it in as 2030 on the education tab and that seemed to have fixed the problem. Thank you for your help!
I've seen similar when entering credit card expiration dates, I key in 30 and it defaults to 1930. I figured it's something in Configuration/Business Rules, but I don't really have the time to do the troubleshooting right now, if I even have the rights to change it.
I've run into this same issue. I did an import with 2030 and just realized that it is reading 1930. I've manually changed a few but wondering if I could do a global change.
Hi Beth,
I am working through this problem, too. It could be a problem with how Windows interprets the two digit format. I'll let you know if we find a solution. Thanks for posting - this is a big problem for my team.
I remember this being a problem when I worked at a school. In Business Rules - Alumni options I set it to show as YY instead of YYYY. Not ideal, but I know this has been discussed before and is a known issue.
I would think you could do a global change.
@Beth Chu @Karen Stuhlfeier Karen gave the fix, but I agree it's not ideal. The four-digit class year looks clunky, but consider it a badge of honor that the school has been around long enough that there needs to be distinction between 1930 and 2030. The problem will be on the addressees that have Editable? checked, which will need manual fixes.
I made a query of this: alumni with an addressee that was edited and came up with just over 1,100. Not sure if I'm going to tackle this project or change them as I see them.
Are you stating that these addressees were imported in with editable two digit alumni class years @Joy Prevost? I wouldn't think that this would be a problem if they were all edited, then they should read how they were edited, right? If you are entering the alumni information with four digits and the business rule is misreading the class year, that's one thing, but I didn't think an editable addressee would be a problem if it was created correctly.
No, I'm not talking about imported ones. I'm dealing with edited records from way, way back that will need changing for consistency now that we are using YYYY.
Is it possible that it's related to a Windows setting? https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/107564
