Transfer RENXT Gift ID to FENXT for Easy Reconciling - Anyone Figure This Out Yet?

I recently helped a client re-integrate their RENXT environment with FENXT. Unfortunately, Gift ID is not a field that can be transferred to FENXT making reconciliation more difficult than need be. Does anyone have a solution for this or should I add it to the Ideas to be voted on for adding this functionality?

What is your finance team's reconciliation process? Gift ID isn't really needed on this as no one will reconcile 1 gift at a time.

Not making light of bank rec as it is a "topic" for sure. My finance team has difficulty particularly with online giving which gift date will not match when the money arrive in bank as payout (settlement). All others goes by "batching" so you can use Batch ID and/or reference field, both of which can have "gift entry" process to include the date of the "deposit". Batch ID and Reference field is available to be included in the 50 character max journal reference.

They do reconcile by batch, which is great. But we were trying to perform a historical reconciliation (before they started batching gifts) and were hoping to use Gift ID, but that was not possible.

About online giving - we've figured out a process that works really well for us, in case you'd like to share it with your finance team :)

We use a clearing account for online giving, which allows RE to record the individual gifts with the gift date they prefer for revenue (or that comes with the integration with Stripe etc). We use a gift subtype in RE to map these to clearing instead of straight to the bank account. *Had to work with RE data entry to get this consistent, but now it's reliable.

To reconcile the cash, I create a JE from the Stripe etc disbursement reports to debit the bank account (total net amount) and fees and credit the clearing account (individual gifts). Some months ago I added the clearing account to the bank accounts page so I can reconcile it like a bank account, which I do monthly. (Before that I would export and recon in excel - do not recommend lol) A bit of manual work, but I find it a good trade for full confidence in the numbers and being able to spot errors soon. Separating bank rec from online giving rec made them each more manageable.

Finance person here: agree Gift ID would be nice for reconciling. I usually only have to go gift by gift if there's a variance, and then I use a combination of the amount, name, date, etc. to find the difference. Funny it's rarely just one gift of the exact amount we're off ;)

trying to match FE NXT GL entries to RE gift is not exactly possible. if you post using webivew posting in RE NXT, the export on the post operation will have a "Original Gift ID" (gift system record id, not "Gift ID" as you see it in query) so it helps (dbview posting does not provide Original gift id, at least i'm not ware it does). It really depends on what process you want to follow.

It still surprised me that there is no "clear solution" by default from these platforms, I am helping finance figure things out and the only real way I see it is with API automation.

We also use Fundraise Up, so from FRU export you will not be able to do bank rec with it (meaning FRU export alone importing into RE NXT will not work well, you are making assumption here and there especially with ACH). In order to really "tie" all the knots, you need Stripe Payout data, specifically Payout ID and Payout date.

So I use API (FRU API and Stripe API) to bring in data from both side. Then use Power BI to create a dashboard that provide insight from Stripe payout perspective. From there finance can drill in and get an export file with all transaction from a specific payout (which may contain transactions from days ago's ACH or yesterday's CC). Transaction date is gift date in RE NXT. Payout date is added so it exists in the gift record plus it goes into FE NXT as part of posting, so in FE NXT they can group together by the payout date and match to bank disbursement directly.

I am working to automate this for BBMS too (Luminate Online, JustGiving, Online Express, RE NXT various modern forms, and Mobile Pay Terminal).

Does your client have an option to Export the csv file when posting via webview? I'm not integrated with an FE environment, so I'm not sure if the options are different. If they do have that option, that spreadsheet will show the system record ID for the gifts. It displays in csv as "Origin Gift ID," but it appears to be the system record ID for that gift and not the general Gift ID that we're familiar with from database.

Again, since I'm not connected with FE, I don't know what the options are for transferring that information. At the very least, your client might be able to export that csv to find the gifts that they are trying to reconcile.
