Re: Importing large amount of data as data list for Record Operations Task
Hi @Sue Jang
Do you have BrightVine Data Link? If so, and you have the latest version, you can just load the GUIDs of the records you want to perform the record operation on, into a placeholder field. Then you can use the new record operation orchestration to execute the operation.
You can load any type of record’s GUID into this field as it just works to hold the ID needed for the record operation to work.
I have a feeling you need to include the constituent lookup ID in the import file and map it in the field mapping, just to enable BVDL to load each row, but you can ignore it from there.
I’ve just done something similar to delete 27,000 communication records where we identified that the marketing effort was configured incorrectly when activated!
Re: Batch commit reports in NXT webview
@Ange Scott
Thank you. We currently export out the info then put it into a report looking similar to the batch commit report. To my knowledge there isn't a “report” for the batch commit that you can run, it automatically generates after you commit the batch but only once. This is in DB not webview, webview does nothing.
Re: Adding gifts in webview batch using Barcode scanner
@Nadine Nel
I would love this, what a great solution for return mail campaigns.
Sharing My PowerAutomate Workflow: Attach Files from SharePoint to RENXT Gift Records
I mentioned this in my #devdays session & there seemed to be interest, so I thought I'd share ![]()
Description: This workflow adds gift documentation as a link from SharePoint to RENXT gift records. Saves lots of time if you manually update this field, and ensures that staff reviewing gifts for stewardship, letters, etc, have quick and easy access to the documentation that came with a gift.
Required Connections:
- SharePoint
- RENXT Gifts
Suggested Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Configuration Details:
- Gift Custom Field "Gift doc name" should have the name of the file as its value (the name before the file extension). This can be added in the batch entry process.
- SharePoint library that includes these columns (mine includes more, but these are needed for the flow to work):
- GiftID - (Single line of text)
- RENXT_Attachment Single line of text. Be sure to train staff to not include apostrophes in these file names. Apostrophes = chaos.
This workflow has two parallel branches--one looking for gifts, and one looking for files that have a gift ID and are not marked as ‘attached’ (this can be used for attaching records that may not have gone through a different process).
Category: Automation, Data Management
----
About the flow:
Branch 1 (looking by gifts):
- List gifts: looks for gifts of certain types that were added within the last 5 days. These filters can be changed to meet the needs of your organization.
- For each gift, pull gift custom fields and filter on those with category “Gift doc name”
- Seach SharePoint library for files with name listed in “Gift doc name”
- Condition: if a SharePoint file is found matching the name, and the comments for the gift custom field is blank, the flow will
- get the file properties,
- create a gift attachment as a link,
- update the file properties with the gift ID and the attachment ID, and
- add a comment to the gift custom field to ‘mark’ that the attachment has been created
Branch 2 (looking at unmatched files):
- List files in the SharePoint library that have a Gift ID listed in properties but do not have an attachment ID
- Get the gift (by ID) in NXT
- Create gift attachment as a link
- Update file properties with attachment ID
Re: Tracking Google Analytics on NXT donation forms (Standard + Optimized)
@Leo Rezende discussion moved to the Raiser's Edge NXT community. Thanks!
Re: Report for daily record changes in database or NXT view
@Hallie Guiseppe Thank you this is very helpful to build the query
Re: Who gets the physical mail and what happens next?
@Christian Hill sounds like you have streamlined your operations for better efficiency and this procedure would also help train anyone new that would be on your team. It definitely seems like it will improve communication with your team and keep your daily activities running smoothly.
Celebrate Your Tech Innovations by Nominating Your Work for The Futurist Award!
Hear from a winner:
Take inspiration from Alex Campomanes, director of advancement services at University of Manitoba, winner of the 2024 Futurist Award, who shared how that recognition led to an exciting turning point for his team and the university:
"Winning the Futurist Award in 2024 was a major turning point for us. It validated years of transformative work and positioned our team as a driver of innovation within the university. The recognition boosted internal credibility, accelerated adoption across departments, and gave us the momentum to push even further. More than anything, it helped our staff feel seen—and that changed the culture.
Winning the award also helped catalyze the next logical step: the formation of AccelerateIQ, a new external model that we are commercializing to help generate revenue and reinforce the university's long-term success. Its success will directly strengthen the University of Manitoba’s capacity for growth and innovation, and we are excited about how it will be able to support other institutions as well.”
Click here to nominate your organization for The Futurist Award (or any Blackbaud Impact Award category) by Friday, June 13! We can't wait to hear your story of technological exploration and creativity!
Re: Shocked At How Slow and General "Bad" NXT Data Input Is`
@Alex Wong:
what Tom is talking about has to do with “new table entries”. In DB view, if you “type” a new table entries (I.e. Title), and you have right to add table entries, RE dbview prompt you if you want to add a new entry and add it if you allow. Definitely an inconvenience to must first go to table section of webview, look for the table, then add the entry
I gotcha. Yes, you can shortcut table entry if you have the appropriate rights. I never think about the fact that there is no shortcut for table entry in NXT. I agree with the concept that it is an inconvenience for sure. I'd vote for that idea in the idea bank for sure.
That said, the date added/last changed for emails and phone numbers as well as the comments need to move over immediately @Tom Klimchak. I think that Blackbaud is aware that these changes are creating a lot of challenges, but I don't think they realize how much it's upsetting the apple cart here, as well as their customers.
Re: Shocked At How Slow and General "Bad" NXT Data Input Is`
@Derek Smith I like to think of NXT as a “work-in-progress” at best. I don't know if anyone would refer to it as fully armed and operational, but it does work for some things and is the future. I would also invite people to try new functionality, but not necessarily migrate full operations from database view until you can achieve the level of performance that you need. Things are changing extremely fast, and this process will take a lot of time. I think everyone would rather they get it right than to rush this process…
