Re: Primary Contacts - Best practice - make them a full constituent?
@Diana Gray We do not make them a constituent. If your org feels you need to for communication purposes, go for it. If you do a lot of communications to them, I can see where RE might be limiting.
We have not found that need. When we have needed to send, we have been able to do it thru mail org criteria settings.
Re: Primary Contacts - Best practice - make them a full constituent?
@Diana Gray Every organizations is going to be different on this matter. We only make a primary contact for an ORG have their own record if they give money on their own or if they become a board member.
Re: PowerUp Challenge: First Gift Management Task
@Crystal Bruce I have limited experience with the opportunities area. I was a little confused as to what “Name” should be entered - name of person adding info? name of solicitor? There is a space further down to Assign to Fundraiser, so I guess it's adding name of person entering info? Again, I've only had limited experience with Opportunities, but it seems to me that a better approach would be to have a list of prospects, their opportunities/amounts/dates etc. and do a global add rather than recording things one by one. Finally, how do I delete the test info I entered? I couldn't figure out how to get rid of what I entered!
Re: Balance Sheet & Income Statement Dashboards
@LaQuanda Princethe dashboards in webview are not live , and always have a delay ( which can vary by day). If they want realtime, reports when run are your only real time option.
Re: Campaign management best practices
@Mark Zigadlo
NXT (webview) does not currently allow you to amend or change a recurring gift's campaign or fund. However, you can do this in database view. Just open the recurring gift there and click “amend”.
For gifts that have not been transferred to webview and have been marked “do not post”, it is even easier, as you can change the fund/campaign without even doing an amendment. For those being managed in webview, you can no longer amend the gift amount in db view, but you can still amend the fund/campaign info. I imagine that BB will add ability to amend fund/campaign in webview eventually, and then it too will no longer be editable in db view.
Email sign up form
Is there a way to create an email sign up form in Raisers Edge NXT? From what I have found, it was at one time possible in Online Express, but now it looks like that is phasing out (it says I would have to reactivate it, which I'd rather not do as I don't know all the implications…) and I don't see another way?
We are simplifying and trying not to use too many different programs, we're a small school and the costs and time really add up! Direct school correspondence we do through Blackbaud k-12, and general supporter and donor mailings we have been using RE NXT. This is fine, but we don't have a place that people can just sign up to join the list anymore! So what I am looking for is a way to build an email sign up form to embed on our website.
Re: Share: Do you love bbcon? Why is it valuable for you? Tell us why!
@Crystal Bruce Each time I attend BBCON I come back with at least one tip/trick that massively improves how I do my work!!! I love that. This past year I got many things solved at the genius bar as well. I have gotten to visit many new locations because of bbcon and THIS year it's in my home city. ?
Re: Share: Do you love bbcon? Why is it valuable for you? Tell us why!
@Crystal Bruce
While I've used RE for years, this will be my first year going to bbcon, along with a couple of colleagues. I'd love to hear from seasoned attendees what they consider a “must do”, so I can begin planning our trip!
Insights on Insights?
In light of all of the progress in NXT, does anyone have insights on Insights? We like the Fundraising Dashboards, but we are quite hampered by the lack of fields available. For example, in our environment, with well over a thousand funds in use, we use Fund Attributes to be able to report (via Queries & Exports) on many different things in different dimensions. As Fund Type and Fund Category are single-value (and for good reason), we use Fund Attributes to report on Funds vertically as well as horizontally across our institution. Having Fund Attribs in Insights would enable a magnitude-level jump in what we could deliver on Dashboards to Leadership and our development officers.
