Member Discounts on Tickets in Online Sales- Require Login, or Honor System?

Hi all,

We're about to start setting up Altru to sell tickets online for a month-long nightly event in our botanical gardens, and because of the challenges we've heard about member registration & logins, we've never set up any other online sales to require it. It's always been the "honor system" here. With management asking me about specifics when it comes to pros and cons, I'm trying to wrap my head around it all. If any of you require login/registration for discounts, what challenges have you faced? Has anyone tried it with a large-scale event (as in 1000+ people?)? If you use the honor system, what are you frustrations with that?

Any info would be helpful! Thank you!

  • If you are offering member
discounts on a program set up in Altru, that can be set up where
they log in to receive their discount.

  • While there is some confusion with some of our
members, we’ve had great success moving them online to register for
ZooCamps and special events.  The key is the wording on your
buttons.  We send an email to all members asking them to
“Register” their email address with our website to receive member
discounts.  They enter their information and create their own
password.  Feel free to give me a call if you have
    questions.
