National Report vs. Our Donors

We get a report from our National office showing who donated in our region each month. My VP says that we used to mark these somehow in our system, but she doesn't know how and the Database person before me left no notes about it. My worry if I import the list is that I will create duplicates in our system. The list from National has over 15,000 lines. Any advice on how to sort this mess?

So you don't know if these people are already in your db?  Could be mix of 'in' and 'new'? 


For those in db, my first guess would be that it's indicated by an attribute or possibly a constituent code.  


If you have Omatic, an import will at least look for duplicates.
