Changing/Updating Organizational (Employer) Relationship

We just discovered nearly 1200 records that have the same employer name / organizational relationship, but the details (address/phone) are all different. The positions don't match up to the employer category (CPA firm) so we're pretty sure we have a glitch here.


What is best way to change/update that employer name without losing the associated data on the individual's record? I didn't find exact match, but did find a knowledge base article # 37688 that suggests entering something into the Organization Name field such as Unknown. Does this sound like a good solution - making a global change to the org name in the organizational relationship to unknown?

That's an interesting kb solution.  It might be worth trying on a small batch of 3 records.  Obviously, write down the details or take screen shots of the Org & Address info on those records before you make the global change in case it doesn't perform like you expect it to.
