Member Photos

We are interested in using Altru's photo capability to assist with our front-desk check-in process.

Do you capture member photos? If yes, do you mind answering the following questions?

1. How and where are you capturing the photo and adding it to their record?
2. Are any Altru users currently using this feature for the Constituent records? For electronic cards?
3. If using electronic member cards, do you use Cuseum or Museum Anywhere?

Thank you so much!

  • We do not use photos or upload photos into the personal information of a constituent record. Looks like though that the pic would be uploaded from personal information.  I see this as a way of verifying identity, etc.  We do not use photos on the member cards either.  And I email a member card via Word or sometimes a .pdf.  We do not use Cuseum or Museum Anywhere.

I'm subscribing to this topic though b/c again, it would probably be a good contactless way to admit certain visitors! Thanks for bringing it up!
  • We do not use photos for our members.  I do, however, add photos on the records of Board Members along with a pop-up letting our admissions staff know the individual is a Board Member.

For membership cards, we use Museum Anywhere, which I've been happy with.  I have also heard good things about Cuseum (and their webinars have been reeally good.)
  • For a short time, we installed a third party software that we hoped would speed up the check in process. This software was connected to Altru, so we could take a quick snap of the member on an IPAD and it would automatically upload to their record.

We found that the software as well as taking photos wasn't ideal for our organization or how our check in process works. We require every person on the membership to be named, which means every person had to have a photo. If you are trying to quickly check in a whole family, you would need to visit each constituent record in Altru to see their photos. It ended up slowing the process down for us.

We do use cusuem for electronic cards, but do not require photos.
