Gift Batch entry in NXT webview considerations

I'm wondering how gift batch entry from webview compares with database view?

It the webview robust enough to handle Tributes?

Are all the other options available:  pledges, recurring gifts, stock gifts, soft-credits, matching gifts?

Can webview run receipts and acknowledgements?

If there are PaperSave users out there, does webview batch operate similarly to database view, where you tab off the line, it prompts you to attach the scanned document, and it all works efficiently?

Or is Gift batch in NXT webview more of a "work in progress"?

Thanks.

Hi Chris, it's definitely a  work in progress.  It does not have all the gift types available, and you cannot run receipts from webview.

Hi, Chris Z‍, - when it was first released, Jarod Bonino‍ wrote a post for the RENXT Announcements blog to describe the Gift Batch development philosophy: https://community.blackbaud.com/blogs/13/5824 - It's worth checking out. Even though the post's from last July, the methodology with which the team's approaching building Batch still holds. Now Batch in web view has some of the future capabilities he described - it also aggregates online donations and online event registrations, for instance. Our iterative development approach allows you to take advantage of core functionality that grows over time, rather than wait for a robust feature set or solution. As more capabilities get added, you can read about them in the "What's New" blog posts and in the "What's New" help content.
  • Thanks for the link to the article last year.  I hadn't even thought about the lack of two key features that gift processing uses, Batch Templates and Setting Default Values.

I'm hoping all these features can be built out.  It sure would help.

The other piece missing is the lack of an equivalent to the "Commit Control Report."  There is no report of confirmation after you Approve a web-view batch.

If you are used to working in database view with templated batches, it is much slower to go through the web-view method. It seems like it might be more useable for small groups of gifts. My hope was that I could use web-view so that my team members who get gift info on a phone call could enter them "on the fly" so to speak, and I could review and approve the batch at the end of the day. The goal being to save them having to get that gift info to me, which is a challenge as we work from home.  But, it's just not quite ready for that yet.
  • I've switched all of our recurring gifts to run automatically in NXT but the batch functionality is frustrating. In webview, we used templates so that things like "letter code" and receipting options were applied to the entire batch. The automatic recurring gifts also automatically assigns a fundraiser (if there is one on the constituent record) but we don't want this to happen. I have to manually open the committed batch (from NXT) in webview and visit each record to make the necessary changes. Not really fully functional yet.

I highly recommend this free webinar series from Blackbaud.  It is recent and gives a lot of the information you are looking for.  Very worth the investment of your time.

I also subscribed to the NXT blog so that it comes to my email inbox.  This will be the same information as in "What's New" when you log in to NXT after an update, but I find that I am more likely to read it when it is in my email.  That will alert you to updates in NXT right away, and make you aware of updates related to donation forms / gift entry.

Thank you, Karen. I love Taylor Francis‍ 's webinars too. Especially when it comes to helping you make a choice which tool to use. Here's the direct link to the archive of most recent Customer Success sessions including the RENXT or OLX series.
