Gift Date Issue within Campaign

When I started I was told that every time I input a gift, I will get a message and I am to just say "yes" to it. However, the more I learn the more I realize that this is not supposed to pop up every time I input a gift. The message says: "The gift date does not fall within the campaign range... Do you wish to save this gift?"

How do I handle this message? My guess is that when the campaigns (all of them) were started, there was an entry error. I just can't figure out how to figure out my predecessor's error...

The campaign name that you're using must have an end date on it. I would first go to your supervisor and ask if you can change the end date on the campaign (do this by going to Records>Campaigns>Open a Campaign> then search for the campaign at question; once you have the campaign record open, change the end date. End dates are required for the creation of the campaign, so that's probably why you're running in to issues - the creator HAD to do that). Alternately, ask if your supervisor would like gifts to go to a different campaign. At my org, we have a new annual campaign each year. If I were to try to add a gift to 2019's campaign, I would get the same error message you're getting. But, since my current campaign has a start date of 1/1/2020 and end date of 12/31/20, I don't get that message when I add a gift and use that campaign record.

Campaign start and end dates aren't required by default - maybe someone has set them as required in Config > Fields? You should be able to change that if you don't want them to be mandatory.
