Recording Planned Gift using Other

We do not have the PG module so we used Other as gift type to record a planned gift. The donor has died and we have realized the gift. How do I handle that. It was not recorded as a pledge so I cannot pay off a pledge. Right now I have it as a cash gift but the other gift is still showing. Would delete the gift intention "other" gift or record it in Actions but take it out of gifts? Does anyone have the PG module that is a small school without a great deal of planned gifts? When does it become prudent to get the module? Any advice is welcome.

Did you have any responses or solutions on this question? I am wondering about this same question. I was thinking of adjusting the deferred gift to 0 and entering the realized gift as a new gift.

I am in a similar situation with a new Planned Giving program. Looking for best practices on recording the gift when we learn of it and then how to record the cash when gift is realized. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks!

@Barbara Vestergaard We do not have a planned gift module, and I have some of the same questions. Is RE used to record planned gifts? To date we have received very few planned gifts, but we need to establish a process. Suggestions would be appreciated.
