Duplicate account - delete?

Still fairly new to NetC and user accounts.

Due to issues with alum being unsuccessful in changing a forgotten password or just finding it easier to create a new account, we have a number of people with more than one 'account.'

While only one is linked to RE and gives them access to view data, is there any reason to keep previous account?  Only potential value I see is first date created which we've decided we don't need to track. The extras don't cause any issues but would just like to clean up user list.
