Tracking Increased/New gifts towards annual goal
We use an overarching goal, split amongst 4 different campaign and then multiple appeals under each campaign. We start each year with a outline/spreadsheet/map with a baseline number that we derive at from analyzing last years gifts and putting in the ones we feel we can count on as renewable. Then, there is obviously always a gap between our baseline and our annual goal. We are struggling with how to best track new gifts but more importantly how to track increased gifts? For example: Tom Smith Family Foundation gives $25,000 and they are a new donor. We think this one is pretty easy, put the gift in the right campaign and the appeal would be "GAP Appeal/New Gifts/TBD". When we pull our monthly appeals list, these are easy to sort/track. However, donors who give an increased that we had not planned on in our baseline is tougher. Sandy Shores always gives $2,000 for their annual named scholarship. This year after meetings and proposals they gave $10,000 for their named scholarship. So the $2,500 we already have accounted for in our "baseline" number but the new $8,000 is "new". We used to do split gifts and went away from it as it created more headaches then worth. Could we book this gift as one gift but use a gift attribute to record/track the 8K? Can't do two appeals on one gift unless you do split gifts so that is out. Any other thoughts, ideas, tips...? Thank you!!

I think in the past I've used an Analytical Report - Comparative Report. It will give you last year's giving and this year's giving by constituent with dollar and percent variants. You could base the report on a query of the 4 campaigns and appeals.1
