Is there a way to easily change revenue from ticket to donation? (as part of a package)

One of our classes was canceled for four session and a participant would like to make a donation instead of being refunded. Is there an easy way to do this? We do not hold participant credit card information.

    You should be able to do this pretty easily.


    1. Go to the transaction page and unlock the deposit associated with the payment.

    2. Select "Edit Payment" from the tasks menu

    3. When the payment window opens, select the current application (event registration) and delete it.

    4. Add the donation now like you normally would

    5. Save and Close the payment

    6. Relock your deposit.


    I hope this helps! You may have some additional steps not listed here depending on how your account is set up.

    This was a major issue for us in 2020. We had to cancel all of our camp sessions! Some people donated a portion of the fees, some wanted to renew memberships and others wanted to attend our new virtual events (all different income accounts). We didn't find a way to accomplish this in Altru, unless the full amount was refunded. If the full amount was donated, we changed the income account number for the deposit and teh payment methods had to match. But nothing was really tracked in Altru.

    If you know you won't be doing anything else with the order, you can refund part to exchange and then pay for a donation with exchange. But, you'll want to make sure you're not going to need to refund the rest because a partial refund locks up the transaction and you can't do anything else with it (for this same reason, I recommend going slow when you do it so you don't make any mistakes).


    You may also want to vote on these ideas so that hopefully Altru will one day improve the refunds/exchanges in the system.
