Can you upload an image into a gift record

Does anyone know if this can be done and if so how? Our new VP wants us to put proof for pledges into RE and her preference would be with the gift, though I know we can upload to Media if need be.

Hi @Joanne Felci! In webview you can attach a file directly to the gift, but it won't show up on the database side. If you need it on the gift in database view, it's not the cleanest solution, but you could screenshot the pledge and add it to a Notepad on the gift.

We are currently doing this for all of our pledges and most of the gifts. Once we enter them in DB view through batch, we pull a list in webview and then attach all of the documentation. We don't necessarily need to see the documentation in DB view only webview since all of our leadership, fundraisers and accounting team use webview. I am really the only one left that functions in both.

@Joanne Felci I know another nonprofit who does just that: upload the batch copies and documentation as a gift attachment in webview. Just be careful because webview data is not saved during nightly backups, cannot be queried, and cannot merge in database view. So if you ever needed to back up your data, these attachments would be lost. Best to keep hard copy documentation in addition to the webview data, for the sake of protecting your audit trail. View webview as a convenience, but not as legal record-keeping storage.

Knowledgebase article 96782 says “Attachments added in the NXT web view do not appear in the database view”. Is that no longer the case?

I stand corrected. The donors I were looking at had older attachments. I looked at a more active one and you are correct we cannot see anything after 2019. That is not a good feature to take away.

Was it 'taken away'? I have always heard since starting with NXT that items were not viewable and not able available if you have to download a backup.


We attach all on db side.

This is not immediately helpful... but PaperSave offers this functionality. I used it at a previous organization and it was SO helpful. I could query on it as well, which was great. Your org may not be in a position to purchase & implement, but wanted you to know that this is a great option. Let me know if you have questions. I'm in the process of evaluating for my current org.
