How to use MFA Recovery Codes

Hello. I would like to require MFA for all teaching faculty, but I can't find a way for them to log in if they don't have their device with them. I did get a recovery code when I enabled MFA for myself, but I can't find a place where it's used.

. No one can tell me what the recovery code is used for or where to use it. I have contacted support twice, I was told to use the 16 digit recovery code in place of the texted code, but I can't because the texted code would only be six digits.

Is anyone using MFA and if so how do assist folks who forgot their device, have a missing device, etc.

Thank you!

Hi @Cheryl Costello - if you're using the Blackbaud MFA, there isn't a way to log in without your code or the recovery code. If you don't have access to either, any more support can reset your two-step authentication so that you can register a new device the next time you log in.

With our BBID set up, we used MFA with our identity provider in which we require users to have MFA on so we don't use the Blackbaud MFA. In addition, having MFA set up through our identity provider allows us to generate recovery codes in the event a user leaves their device or has a new one, etc.
