Recording of bequests from estates

If you receive a bequest from an individuals estate do you credit the gift to the individuals record or do you credit the gift to the Organization that the check came from (Bank) and soft credit the individual?

For us estates are separate entities so we create a new RE (org) record and hard credit that record. We also soft credit the decedent's ind record.
