Workflow Designer from Gift Lists, Instead of Constituent Lists

Hi,

My organization is starting to use Workflow Designer to automate actions based on different criteria in a constituent list. As far as I understand, is it not currently possible to create these automated workflows based on a Gift List instead, right? Is there a workaround to be able to capture filters that are gift-specific?

no you currently cannot use a gift list in web view for workflows. But you could do a static constituent query in database view that includes gift criteria. All depends on what you are trying to do.

Webview lists do have the ability to apply some gift filters in a constituent list – such as gift amount, recency, and fund. I'm sure you're already well aware of these.

Otherwise, you would have to do as @Joanne Felci suggests and create a List from a Static query in database view. The main drawback to this is that the query would need to be re-run and re-loaded into Lists each time you wanted to apply the workflow.

Hi @Alessia Di Giorgio - In addition to what Joanne and Faith have mentioned, you do have the ability to based a Workflow off of "Select Criteria” instead of a list, specifically for gifts; this does come with a downside that you cannot control who qualifies for the Workflow in the same way you can with a Constituent List.
