Within gift batch, I have my constituent fields set up to show things such as contact information, spouse, address, if they are deceased, etc. In the past, after the beginning of the month (or when unsure) I ALT + C + H to open the constituent's giving history as a previous gift (or first time gift) affects what thank you letter they will receive with their receipt.

What would be far better for time management is for this to remain open and change giving history with each constituent. Is this possible and I am simply not seeing it? TY!

I do not see a field for Giving History. Perhaps adding a constituent attribute with the appropriate letter code? I recently added attributes to alert me to “See Record For Gift Info” or “Notify Staff Name”. Agree, seeing these fields in batch is a time saver vs opening every record.

Nope, not a field for giving history.

I have used constituent window for years. Great place to confirm address and contact info has not changed.

I don't trust myself enough to catch things like annotations, deceased, soft-credited for existing pledge (likely spouse). I have created business rules with a pop up to let me know those significant things I deem very important to gift entry. That's my personal preference.

I too use annotations and attributes for other important things. I thought I'd ask if it's there and I'm just being blind and over-looking it! LOL

What exactly are you looking for when you open a constituent record? Is it whether or not this is their first gift? You may be able to add a business rule (in configuration) to notify you of certain conditions on a constituent record. It depends on what you need to see in order to make the decision about the letter.

I like to remind people that “if there is logic to your decision, it probably can be built”. Queries still can be somewhat limiting, which is why I throw in the “probably”.

The query-based business rules built in database view are not currently visible in webview, FYI. There are a few ideas in the idea bank open for voting though, so hopefully that will come soon.

I also use queries and gift business rules for things like this. It may take a little upkeep depending on your needs, but it is better than nothing. I voted for your idea.
