Phone Types

Hi Everyone, Checking to see what kind of best practices everyone is following regarding phone types. What do you name your fields and how many of each do you give each field? IE Home 1, Home 2, etc. Thanks!

Do you mean per record? not per field?

These days a Home01 seems to be sufficient since the majority of folks seem to only have a mobile number. So then Mobile01. I do keep a Home02 and Mobile02 just in case on the rare occasion. Same with Email 01, 02 and then BizEmail01 and 02. the 01 is the primary of each of the types. That is documented and taught to all that access the info.

Yes, I meant how many of each field do you use, up to how many of each type and also how many different types do you have, Home 1 or Phone 1? etc.

We have a Home, Home2, Home3 as well as a Cell and Cell2. (Having multiples comes in handy for spouses.) Also have a Work and Work2, Email and Email2.

We do also have an append type - because bulk appends are less accurate and we don't want appends writing over the existing Home number. So we have PF1 (PhoneFinder) and PF2.

Primary phone from whatever source is always entered as “Home” so that we can easily export for donor lists and call lists.
