Donor Org Acquired by another company

We have a long time organizational donor that was acquired by another company. They are still located in the same office and the organization's leadership is now with the new company.

I am thinking I should inactivate the former company's Constituent Record and create a new one with the new company name. That makes sense to me because it is not just a name change, it is a whole new company and the new company should not get credit for their past gifts.

Any thoughts on this and is there anything else I should consider before I take these steps?

@Sandra BradfordJennings MHA Depends on how your organization wants to handle that. When that happens with us, we keep that same record, change the name, make note of the former name and when it was acquired by the other company. In this day and age, these takeovers are so common. Again, up to your organization, but whatever you choose, keep it consistent.
